Product & Materials
1. Why does MOELLE use teak wood?
What sets teak apart from other woods are its unique compounds, called tectoquinones, which give it exceptional antibacterial and antifungal properties.
Combined with its high silica content and natural oils, teak wood is incredibly durable, offering built-in resistance to bacteria, fungi, and water damage. All of which makes it an ideal choice for kitchenware.
2. Are MOELLE products sustainable?
Following the principle of “from trash to treasure,” we craft our beautiful products from smaller, leftover pieces of teak wood that would otherwise go unused in furniture making. Our wooden kitchenware has one of the lowest carbon footprints in the industry, with a production process that uses up to 67% less energy compared to conventional materials. Each item is thoughtfully wrapped in tracing paper and shipped in a thoughtfully designed box made from recycled cardboard.
3. How should i maintain my wooden product?
We recommend oiling/waxing your products once a month or whenever they have lost their lustrous shine.
You can either use coconut oil or natural beeswax to oil/wax your wooden products. We recommend you not to use mineral or vegetable oil as its acids decay wood.
4. How do i clean my wooden product?
You can clean your product with water and mild soap. After washing, dry it with a clean cloth.

Please Note:
1. Do not put your wooden items in a dishwasher. This can damage the product and cause it to crack or warp.
2. Never leave your wooden product soaking in water.
3. Avoid using harsh detergents, as they may damage the surface.
5. Can I cut or place raw meat on the board?
Yes, absolutely. Teak wood has natural self-preserving properties that help eliminate bacteria. For occasional deep cleaning, applying a bit of vinegar can be helpful. However, avoid using vegetable oil, as it may turn rancid and affect the board’s surface.
To keep your board looking and performing like new for years, lightly sand it from time to time and apply a coat of beeswax or coconut oil.
